DeCA obligation: 3 ways to be compliant

26/08/2026

From October 5, 2026, the Documento de Control for road transport in Spain will become mandatory in digital format. For transport companies, this means it is important to determine in a timely manner which approach best fits their organization.

With eWastra, there are various possibilities, ranging from simple digitization of existing documents to a fully digital transport flow.

1. Uploading existing DCA documents

Are you still working with paper DCA documents today? Then you can easily upload them as a PDF in eWastra.

eWastra is an accredited provider and, as such, ensures specific DeCA compliance, hosts the document securely, and generates a unique QR code required for roadside inspections. These features are a must to be compliant. Simply creating a PDF of your paper document is not valid.

Advantage: Ideal for companies that want to maintain their current way of working and become compliant quickly.
Disadvantage: Manually filling in, scanning, and converting to PDF still takes time.

2. Creating DCA documents digitally

Do you not have DCA documents yet, or do you prefer not to prepare them yourself? Provide the necessary transport data and eWastra will create the compliant DeCA document for you.

Advantage: An efficient solution that also serves as a first step toward further digitization.
Disadvantage: In addition to the DeCA, your driver will still carry the Carta de Porte on paper.

3. Going fully digital with Carta de Porte

Those who want to go beyond mere compliance can digitize the entire transport process throughout Spain. Our electronic Carta de Porte meets the same technical requirements as DeCA. This allows one document to satisfy both legal requirements where possible.

Advantage: This results in less administration, faster communication, and increased efficiency.

One step further? Digitize your international transport as well

Transport, of course, does not stop at the Spanish border. With the international eCMR solution from eWastra, you manage both domestic and international transport documents from a single platform.

This allows you to work with one workflow, one archive, and one digital solution for all your transport documentation.

Ready for October 2026?

Whether you want to become compliant quickly, have DeCA documents created, or digitize your entire transport process: eWastra offers a solution that can grow with your organization.

Start with the solution that fits your company today and be prepared for the mandatory electronic DeCA documentation in Spain.
