How do I register my company in DIWASS?

07/05/2026

From May 21, 2026, DIWASS will become mandatory for cross-border waste transport within the EU. As previously communicated, the European Waste Expert Group has decided to allow a transition period for non-hazardous waste (green list) until January 1, 2027. For hazardous and mixed waste (orange list), the deadline remains unchanged.

Since April, you have been able to register your company in DIWASS. Every operator must be registered in DIWASS for the correct registration of waste transport. By completing this step now, you will avoid extra administrative stress later.

How do I correctly register my company in DIWASS?

  • Log in to https://webgate.ec.europa.eu/env-traces using your EU login account
  • Select your role as ‘operator’
  • Select an existing operator: here you can enter your company details to ensure you are not already registered. If your company is already on the list, no further registration is required.
  • Are you not on the list? Then you are not yet registered. Select ‘create a new operator‘.
  • Enter the following company details: name, address, identification number.
  • Under ‘chapter or activity‘, select Waste Shipment Regulation.
  • Complete the remaining details.
  • After registration, your status will change to ‘new’. Once your registration is accepted, this will change to ‘valid‘.

For additional assistance, you can consult a detailed step-by-step guide and video tutorials from the EU Commission.
